Saskatchewan and Manitoba seem to be lacking in pullouts/rest areas - or at least along the route we are taking. And roadside garbage containers in MB are blue plastic bins much like the garbage containers we have. They are either overflowing or knocked over with garbage spilling out.
Dan is in no mood for big cities and traffic today. So on we trudge - feeling like a coffee and here comes a little town called Richer - so we stop for a bowl of soup and some toast. Quaint little place - soup was called Green Bean and Dill - very good so I told the waitress it was excellent and she said thanks "I made it"!
Off we go again and Hwy #1 is a two lane now divided by groves of trees and a huge median on each side. Very picturesque. I didn't realize that Manitoba had such a French influence - but all signs are in both English and French.
Awe here comes West Hawk and we get a cute spot for the night. Good thing it is not tourist season - the camper next to us said you can't get in here in the summer. Lucky for us. I guess we better start thinking ahead soon. A deer wanders into the camp spot beside us and chows down on the lush green grass - very wary though at any strange sounds. Oops the deer spotted me looking out the window and taking a picture but she doesn't move, she just eats and keeps on the alert for danger.
We BBQ 'd steaks and potatoes - a nice change. Well off to bed - good night!
