Day 16 - Monday, June 16 - Lake Superior

We left Wawa this morning, skies are cloudy and we are heading for Sault Ste. Marie as today's destination.  We have been averaging 300 to 400 km per day, but today we want to get the unit cleaned up, find someplace to bath Gidget and get my haircut.  I look like the Shaggy DA.  We are hoping some sun will break through the clouds today.  This morning was the warmest morning we have had since leaving home.

We are driving through Lake Superior Provincial Park and have taken a picture of Old Woman Bay,  this is it.  Very picturesque.

We are now 1060 km into Ontario! And still about 1200 Kms from Niagara Falls.  We might get there br Friday.

We stopped at a scenic lookout and read about Lake Superior - some amazing facts and what a view. Here are two pictures I want to share.

We got to Sault Ste. Marie and found a campsite at Glenwiew RV Park.  We had met the travellers from Ft. Saskatchewan and we made a plan to meet there today.  So we got our spot and went into town to look for an rv and car wash - the bugs need to be washed off - they are terrible.  We found a car wash so we took the Geo through but nothing for the Moho.  We also found a do it yourself dog wash at Pet Value - so Gidget is all nice and clean and smelling pretty for only $10 and that includes a small bag of treats as well.  Then off I went to find a hairdresser as my hair has become rather wild and unruly!! I found one that takes walk ins so I am getting my haircut.  As she is cutting I hear a click and wonder what that is.  When she is finished she gasps!  Oh my I have cut your chain with the clipper - omg - she says there is a jeweller down the road that will fix that for you in a hurry - she says the haircut is no charge!!  She was devastated and I was aghast myself.  So I tell Dan we need to go the jeweller (this is the tricolour dolphin necklace he gave me for my birthday) and off we go.  The jeweller will fix it in one hour and have it ready by 4 pm.  Great - so we get a late lunch, early dinner and wait the hour.  Voila it is fixed and what a good job and only $10 - so I guess I got my hair cut for $10 - the same as Gidget's bath!  Hope no other catastrophe happens today.  We get back to the site and Ralph and Mary are already there.  So over we go for a visit - they are most interesting people.  The are originally from Newfoundland but moved 40 years ago to Alberta.  They are on their way to see family, be in Ottawa for July 1st and then travel south into the states and return home in November - so they are on a real adventure.  We sat around the fire telling stories, laughing and having a good time.  The mosquitoes are finally at bay - beautiful warm evening.  Now it's bedtime.  Off to Sudbury tomorrow.
