Day 14 - June 14, Saturday - The a Fish Shop, Ontario

We left Dryden at 8 am and we have seen lots of "Watch for Moose" signs along the road.  Unfortunately we saw a calf moose that had been hit - so we are on the lookout.

We stopped at a little place called Upsala for coffee.  About 12:30 pm, near Dog River we came through a time zone change - we are now in the EST.  West of Shabaqua all the rivers and streams from this point on flow into the Atlantic Watershed - kind of amazing.

We got to Thunder Bay around 3:30 pm and we stopped for gas.  The Petrocan was $1.44 - the most we have paid so far.  We talked to a young lady originally from Cape Breton Island.  She had been to Kelowna, BC back in 2009 as a coach for a university volleyball team.  She told us that we should set up two bases when we go to Nova Scotia - one in Inverness and one is Sydney to explore the island.  She also said to be sure to stop at the Red Shoe pub as this was where we might see the Rankins.  She said everyone was very friendly and we would enjoy it there.  I told her I had some Red Shoe wine with me from Kelowna - so I will save it to take to the pub with me!

Off we go looking for a campsite - and we find the Fish Shop - it is a Gift Shop and a Fish Shop - weird combination, but what the hey!  This gift shop has amethyst jewellry there as the property has a vein of amethyst running through it.  So we bought some things there and some whitefish for supper.

We come across a campsite called Wolf River RV and it is quaint but rustic.  No sewer or water but it is right beside Wolf Creek.  The couple that run it are in their 80's so I think they are a bit tired.  Dan decides to set up a rod and try his luck at the creek, so Gidget and I join him.  This is a gorgeous spot.

Lots of red rock in this area.  No luck fishing, so we head in, eat supper and play some crib.  Dan wins, but it's Fathers Day tomorrow - so that's good for him.
