We went to the little shopping centre near the bridge this morning, but nothing caught my eye. The Geo finally got a bath, but we lost the tire cover in car wash!
We stopped at the seafood store they is near us and found that the oysters were all sold out - so that idea us out the window for dinner. Chicken it is I guess. They said they should have some in tomorrow. We'll try again.
We then went to the waterfront boardwalk where they had some very colourful shops to wander through.
On our way out of town today we noticed that McCain has a very large plant here and the other day we saw a McCain Fertilizer plant in Middleton, one of many on the Island, that makes fertilizer to grow their potatoes.
The other large production plant is ADL - Almagamated Dairy Limited supporting the dairy industry on the Island.
We are heading to Summerside to see what the festivities are happening for the long weekend. We went to the Farmer's Market but there wasn't anything there I was interested in, except the honey, but the booth was very busy - in fact the entire market was busy and hard to get around in so we left.
We went to the Matina and they had a few boats tied up.
And a Red Dirt TShirt shop - just like Maui! They only have red dirt here!
Disappointed that there were no festivities for the weekend we looked for a place to have lunch. It wasn't busy downtown and all the places we thought might be interesting didn't have anyone eating. So we kept driving and found a home style restaurant - no oysters for us today. But we did have an awesome hot turkey sandwich with cranberries. Mmm good! Now appetites sated we went grocery shopping to get groceries for the next while.
Now for some fresh veggies.
We got some beans, onions, broccoli and carrots, but the potatoes were in 5 lb bags and that is too much for us. We need to find a place that you can just get a half dozen or so. So no new potatoes for us yet.
On the way back Dan had to stop at a yard sale! I stayed in the Geo - I don't need anything - I did my shopping at the last yard sale we went to. Dan was unsuccessful - there was a kerosene heaterin good shape but the price was $150! Yard sales are not what they used to be.
