Day 65 - Monday, August 4 - Confederation Bridge

Last night we were treated to some music in the rec centre.  The Canadian Champion Fiddler, Allison Inch along with a Touch of Country Show Band played for us.  The band was 4 pieces and everyone could play at least two instruments.  One lady played the banjo, fiddle, mandolin and guitar, as well as singing.  What a talented group - awesome evening of entertainment.

Another sunny with cloudy periods day.  We are leaving PEI tomorrow so getting everything ready for travel - more laundry today, need to do the sheets and Dan's hoody.

This morning when I took Gidget for a walk I saw this little green tree frog hiding in the grass.

I went over to the seafood store to pick up the seafood chowder mix and oysters, but they didn't have any - even though the owner said he would.  Hmmm, well I guess it's leftovers for supper tonight!

We decided to get a timmies coffee and head to the wharf.  Wow so much traffic today heading to and from PEI!  Glad we are not travelling today.

We went to the wharf and found an old railway station house that used to be an information centre - not sure if that was before or after the bridge was opened.

Overlooking the Northumberland Strait there is a lighthouse that is not in use anymore.

The Confederation Bridge is 13.8 Kms long and there is a lot of traffic on it today.

As we were having our lunch there CJ called us.  It was so good to hear from him.  He told us he is working in Ft. St. John now and has been there about a week.  It was so good to hear his voice but now he is even farther away from us, hmmm.

There is a group of tourist type stores at this end of the bridge called Gateway Plaza.

All sorts of things to spend your money on - Cows Ice Cream, Anne of Green Gables Chocolates, Island Gift Shop and on and on.  A very busy place!

There is also a Paderno Kitchen Wear store there.  Paderno, Canadian Series, has been manufactured in PEI since 1979.  They did have a real good sale on and I needed another small pot at home so I managed to get one fairly cheap.

Back at camp - getting psyched for travelling tomorrow!
