Day 51 - Monday, July 21 - Cape Breton Smile

Today is a day of rest - or should I say a day that we are not travelling somewhere.  Today is laundry and maintenance day.  I have lots of laundry.  Good place to meet people though.  I talked with quite a few people that are easterners.  They gave us all sorts of tips and ideas on things to do.  So helpful.
Well laundry took almost 3 hours - so now it is lunch time.  Dan has been busy with fixing the roller on the shower doors and caulking the shower.  But we really did need a day to just catch up and take it easy like the people here.  Don't get in a rush, take time to smell the roses - so today that is what we are doing.

We wandered down to the beach at the camp.  The camp is right on Bras D'Or Lakes.  A really nice  little area with some chairs and a picnic table.  We sat and soaked up the air and enjoyed the view. My favourite thing about Nova Scotia - these chairs are everywhere and when you look at them they make you feel like relaxing.

This is the beach at our camp.

Tonight is relax night - so we are going out to Baddeck for a Lobster Supper.  This was recommended by one of the locals so thought we would try it.

Not as good as the suppers we had with the neighbours in Lunenburg, but good anyway.  We then went to a musical called "Cape Breton Smile".  It was so amazing and Dan thoroughly enjoyed it.  It was highly energetic and featured some of the best local talent in Atlantic Canada.  A lot of original music composed by the group.  There are five large screens behind the musicians that continuously run pictures related to the songs.  Some of the most beautiful scenery of Nova Scotia was captured and shared with the audience.  Kevin Evans sang Danny Boy and it almost brought tears to my eyes.  He has a wonderful voice.  Three siblings, the MacNeils, all very talented in vocals, fiddles, banjo, hand drum, flute and guitar.
A great ending to a day of R&R so to speak.
