Day 57 - Sunday, July 27 - So Long Nova Scotia - Hello PEI

feel sad that we are leaving Nova Scotia today - I could stay much longer, but we need to carry on.  I hope to come back some other time.

Last night, our last night in Nova Scotia, we finally had our first campfire.  It has been either too windy or there have been restrictions.  Yeah - hot dogs and roasted marshmallows for dinner tonight.  Dan is a good sport and is cooking the dogs.

And now for dessert - mmm good!

Nice evening last night, calm with a slight breeze- enough to keep the nasty pests away from me.

Now to set the alarm so we get up early to make the ferry to PEI.  We were told that you had to make reservations on the ferry, but when I called it is only if you are doing a return trip.  We are leaving PEI via the Confederation bridge and you only pay when you leave the Island so that's good for us.  It is much cheaper to pay the bridge toll than the ferry fare.  So we made the ferry and the trip is approximately 1.5 hours.

Leaving Nova Scotia - it is very windy.  The ferry has a mouth that opens up and the vehicles drive inside and then the mouth or clam shell shuts.  It probably keeps the decks dry in rough waters.

We meet the return ferry halfway through the voyage.

It's a bit rocky but we decide to sit outside and watch for the Island to come into view.

Welcome to PEI - we are leaving the ferry and once again on dry land.

Now to find our campsite.  It is a golf course called Vista Bay and has a few camp sites.  Well as we arrive we note the camping is way up, up and the view is amazing.  On the golf course they are also growing hops.  It is really windy here but at least that should keep the bugs away.  This is the view from the camp.

It's an awesome view.  We get set up and off to town for some onions and yogurt.  Now to relax and make dinner, tomorrow we will start our explorations, first with Georgetown on the east coast.
